Desperate Need

Okay, so some of you may not consider this 'desperate', but I do. As I am getting closer and closer to the birth of this little one in my belly, I am beginning to shop for things that we will need over the next 12 months or so. One thing I am absolutely frustrated with is baby clothing. Why is every little girl thing PINK? Don't they make grey, black, navy, green, orange, plum, red, or any other beautiful color out there? I do love pink and I understand that at some point, my child will be forced to wear pink, but please... not every day! Does anyone have any great places to shop to baby clothes that offer a great variety of colors and styles?

Also, since I've been spending a lot more time at home the last few months, I have rediscovered my love of sewing. If anyone needs anything sewn, including, but not limited to: baby blankets, burp cloths, breast feeding hiders, baby slings, or anything else you can think of... let me know.

Their clothes are beautiful. Pricey, but they have pretty good sales once in a while too.

Also, I have purchased some of the cutest baby girl clothes at Babies R Us and Target - none of which were pink.

So, I definitely do not know anything about kid shopping. So not much help. But for you I can see how it is an emergency :) Make sure to check the Once Upon a Child in Lincoln because my sister in law found great prices on some good brands that were still in good shape.

Do do do find breast feeding hiders. One of the scariest days of my life was when I was walking in the BYU library, I turned the corner only to see someone I had dated pull out her breast to breast feed. Yikes! It was a scary moment, I didn't go over and say hello.

Childrens Place is a staple, and a "Gray is Great" line was recently released. I also like the "Polka Dot Elephant" at Gymboree, and Baby Gap always has a huge non-pink selection. As far as dresses (which is just about all my oldest daughter - the middle of the 3 - wears,) I love Shabby Apple, and I saw the link on your blogsite. Check out Shabby Baby, the China Doll is next on my wish list. Good luck, and if you come across a great pattern for a shopping cart cover, please pass it on.

I totally agree with you about the pink issue. If we had a real income, Shaelynn would wear a lot less pink, believe me.

I would try old navy, and target, for starters. I've seen more variety and styles there...especially at old navy. although I have not really purchased anything from there because I buy most stuff secondhand, I've noticed they have more balance with colors and aren't so overly pink and purply.

Buy whatever color you want and put a bow in your daughters hair...or a braclette...or you can have a "girl" colored blanket around her. Congrats on D's new addition!!! I was happy to see coloring in a coloring book on your list!! We spent many hours cororing. I can't wait to meet your daughter. I'm sure she will be as perfect as you were.
Love you,
